Ghadir Investment Company is the investment arm of BSI Group. It is listed at the Tehran Stock Exchange with a registered share capital of Rials 5,062 billion (US$ 554 million).

History

Established in October 1991 under the name Bank Saderat Investment Company, the company was initially registered in the form of a private joint stock company. In 1995, in preparation for a listing, the company became a public joint stock company and was renamed to Ghadir Investment Company. On March 16, 1996, Ghadir Investment Company was listed as the first investment company at the Tehran Stock Exchange.

At balance sheet date Ghadir Investment Company had a portfolio of long-term investments worth Rials 8,127 billion (US$ 885 million) as compared to Rials 5,104 billion (US$ 558 million) a year before.

Financial Highlights 1

The consolidated assets of Ghadir Investment Company increased by 26% from Rials 14,501 billion (US$ 1,636 million) in 2004 to Rials 18,235 billion (US$ 1,995 million) in 2005. The growth is mainly due to the rise in goodwill related to the purchase of share packages in Sepahan Cement, Shargh Cement and International Construction Development Company by Ghadir and its subsidiaries.

At the same time, the shareholders' equity and total liabilities increased by 34% and 19% respectively.

The consolidated net profit increased by 4% to reach Rials 3,604 billion (US$ 399 million) in 2005 compared to Rials 3,465 billion (US$ 397 million) in 2004. The consolidated profit before taxation reached Rials 3,691 billion (US$ 409 million), experiencing a growth of 2.4% compared to Rials 3,604 billion (US$ 413 million) in the previous year.

In terms of market capitalization Ghadir Investment Company is the largest investment company listed at the TSE. On March 20, 2006 it had a market capitalization of Rials 20,685 billion (US$ 2,264 million), representing 6.3% of the total capitalization of the TSE.
